The Roman Legions were basically the Roman army. They were made up of 4000 to 6000 men. Each legion had a different name. The legions had several different ranks. Legionare being the lowest, and Legate being the highest. The Legions were important because they allowed the Romans to defend, conquer, and capture people as they please.
